AED/CPR/First Aid Training

Sacred Hearts First Responders Committee with financial help from a generous donor, has facilitated securing an additional AED (Automatic External Defibulator). First Aid boxes are updated and facility maps are being posted in case of an emergency situation. The next step is to provide training to ensure a percentage of people at our events are able to respond to an emergency situation.

First on the Scene (FOTS), developed by NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians,) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), provides instructors with a toolkit to teach the general public basic response to life-threatening emergencies. Through lesson presentations and-on skill stations, participants will learn how to access help in the event of a life-threatening emergency and what to do until EMS arrives. Hands on use of an AED is also demonstrated.

Sacred Heart offered a class on December 8 and 17 people received the instructions. Two additional opportunities for classes will be offered, free of charge, on April 10 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and April 12 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
