Sacrosanctum Concilium states that Sacred Music “adds delight to prayer, fosters unity of minds, [and] confers greater solemnity upon the sacred rites”. At Sacred Heart, we are dedicated to cultivating a Sacred Music program that is worthy of the Sacrifice of the Mass.
St. Cecilia and Sait Gregory the Great, pray for us.

St. Gregory Adult Choir
The St. Gregory Choir is the principal liturgical choir serving both Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids and Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme. The choir repertoire reflects the rich musical traditionof the Cathollic Church, encompassing Gregorian chant, Renaissance and Baroque polyphony, classical and contemporary sacred choral works, and carefully selected hymnody. Music literacy, liturgical formation, Church music history, and Christian fellowship are woven into every rehersal, helping members grwo not only as musicians, but also as disciples of Christ.
Reharsals are held each Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, with an additional rehearsal beginning one hour before each Mass. The St. Gregory Chorale is open to adults and young people 15 years of age and older from both parishes. A pleasant singing voice and the ability to match pitch are essential. There are no auditions.
